Join the spring Get Up & Go! challenge

Prizes include a fat-tire foldable e-bike

May 1-16 —The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) in partnership with Way To Go! invites Vermonters and schools to participate in the Get Up & Go! Spring Transportation Challenge from May 1-16 to walk, bike, roll, carpool, or take the bus for a chance to win an e-bike and other raffle prizes.

“This important statewide event is a reminder that Vermont is leading the way to reverse the rise in greenhouse gas emissions, one trip at a time,” said Governor Phil Scott.

All participants who record two trips will automatically be entered to win. Registration is open to all Vermonters age 18 and older online here. K-12 school students and teachers can also sign up on the Way To Go! website. Top performing businesses, schools, and individuals will be recognized with great incentives and prizes.

Way to Go! became a one-week event in 2004 and has evolved through the years. The main purpose continues to celebrate Vermonters choosing to travel green while advancing a culture of shared mobility. Everyone is encouraged to take this opportunity to get outdoors, get active, breathe fresh air, and avoid driving alone for the first two weeks of May.

Thanks to the generous donations of AllEarth EBikes, Darn Tough Socks, Green Mountain Power, Burlington Electric Department, QOR 360, Sammel Sign Company, Walk to Shop, and Seven Days, the official media sponsor, several great prizes will be awarded to participating Vermonters and K-12 schools, including an ice cream and popcorn party. All schools are encouraged to voluntarily pledge to improve travel habits and avoid driving alone.

“I’d like to recognize the many partners, business sponsors, and hundreds of Vermonters planning to participate this great event,” said Transportation Secretary Joe Flynn. “Every contribution counts as we work together to diversify our transportation options and reduce Vermont’s carbon footprint.”

Way to Go! is a state-sponsored program, encouraging all Vermonters and schools to go toe-to-toe to walk, run, bike, bus, carpool or telecommute for a chance to win great prizes. Help us reach our goal to move more, protect the air and reduce carbon pollution in Vermont. For more information visit: waytogovt.org.
