Hospital announces Holiday Inn clinic will close June 13, celebrates milestone

In a major milestone achievement in the fight against Covid-19, Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) announced Monday, May 24, that it will close the mass Covid-19 vaccination clinic at the Holiday Inn on Sunday, June 13. The hospital opened the Covid-19 vaccination clinic in February of this year to provide mass vaccination to the Rutland community on behalf of the Vermont Dept. of Health.

“We feel privileged to have been able to provide this level of support to our community,” said Fran Sun, clinic supervisor. “We are very proud of our vaccination clinic staff as well as the hospital’s nursing staff and the nursing partners from the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region. All of their efforts, coupled with our community’s willingness to put this pandemic behind us, has helped us reach the 70% partial or complete vaccination mark.”

Appointments and some limited walk-ins for first doses will continue to be accommodated through June 13. During their first appointment, people who will need to receive their second doses after June 13 will be given a date and a location that will be near the hospital.

“We are really appreciative of our contacts at the Holiday Inn for being so accommodating throughout this entire effort,” said Leah Denton, senior director of clinical services. “Closing the vaccine clinic at the Holiday Inn is a satisfying marker in our vaccine efforts. The community really stepped up and showed up.”

The hospital is working with the Vermont Dept. of Health and other community partners to help transition to other vaccination delivery options including working with local primary care providers and others.

“We are looking forward to this next phase in our response to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Jonathan Reynolds, PharmD, vice president of clinical services at RRMC. “We feel really good about our efforts to date and we are confident that Covid-19 vaccine will continue to be conveniently available to our community.”
