The story walk will display a full book on white picket signs spaced throughout the Fair Haven Town Park during the summer. Feel free to walk through the park and read the full story that is displayed.

The Fair Haven Free Library board of trustees hopes to encourage an appreciation of children’s literature through this project. We would like to thank all those who helped bring this project to fruition, including the Fair Haven Select Board for allowing use of the park, Mrs. Infurna and Mrs. Demasi and the Fair Haven Grade School for assistance with lamination, and a big thank you to the financial support received from the Friends of the Haven Free Library. In addition, we would also like to thank the First Congregational Church of Fair Haven, whose donation has made a third story possible for this sum- mer and for future years.

The first story walk begins July 17 through July 24. The story displayed will be “The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be” by Joanna Gaines. This story walk is dedicated in memory of Toddy Worthen and Sadie Laramie. Toddy and Sadie were passionately committed supporters of the community and its residents. Their helping hands and encouraging words were a constant in so many lives and at countless town events. They each worked for many years as para- educators in local schools and then each of them volunteered for over 25 years at the Fair Haven Free Library.

This week’s story, “The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be,” reminds us to celebrate every child’s one–of-a-kind strengths as well as teamwork and acceptance of differences. The story also reminds us that everything is made more beautiful when we share our talents and abilities and we should always lend a help- ing hand and do our best to take care of one another. Toddy and Sadie lived their lives following the lessons found in this story. Let us all remember their legacy as we enjoy “The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be.”
