Fair Haven Concerts in the Park’s final performance introduces the Hand Picked Band

Thursday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. — FAIR HAVEN — The Fair Haven Concerts in the Park has seen some large crowds this summer and truly great performances by all our bands. There was even a Sunday afternoon concert by Enerjazz when the threat of storms cancelled their Thursday appearance.

The Hand Picked Band will close out the Fair Haven Concerts in the Park series.

On Thursday, Aug. 19, we welcome The Hand Picked Band. This is our last concert of the 2021 summer series. This group is a cover band playing a variety of music from rock & country classics, to today’s new country hits and pop. With five singers, the vocals take center stage with backing instrumentation designed to complement the singers. Band members consist of Glen Pratt on lead guitar and vocals, Thom Burke on drums and vocals, Jeff Durkee on bass guitar and vocals, Nicole Durkee-Saunders on lead female vocals, and Beth Durkee on backup vocals.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. but we would urge folks to come a little early for easier parking. There are picnic tables in the park and we often see families and groups of friends dining during the concert. Hot dogs, sodas, water, and popcorn are available for purchase each week.

There is no indoor venue, so in case of thunder, lightning, or downpours, the concerts will need to be cancelled. To find out the status of the concert, you can call the hotline at 802-265-3010 ext. 301. The hotline is updated at 3 p.m. the day of the concert.

As the series winds down, we want to once again thank all those wonderful folks who make these concerts such an entertaining and family-friendly outing. Special thanks to all of our sponsors including the town of Fair Haven and all the concert volunteers. We also want to thank all of our audience members who make the band feel so welcome. The outpouring of support rom the community is what keeps us going strong and keeps bands wanting to return. Thank you also for the support of the 50/50 raffle. These funds help support Dodge House for homeless veterans, a music scholarship to a Poultney or Fair Haven graduate continuing their education in music, and any extra costs of the concerts. The Concerts in the Park Committee is looking forward to the 2022 Summer Series.
