May 28-29 —More than 150 Vermont artisans are opening their studios over Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to take part in the 30th anniversary of Vermont’s Spring Open Studio Weekend. And you’re invited.

Karen Deets Stained Glass

Karen Deets has been working with stained glass for over 45 years. She specializes in nature themes, fantasy and abstracts, including Vermont landscapes, using kiln fired painting and fusing. She creates panels and fused art glass jewelry. Deets’s glass can be found at the Brandon Artists Guild and Epoch Gallery in Manchester. Deets is on staff at the Community College of Vermont and the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center.

Stragnell Art | R Sanford Stragnell

Stragnell uses found objects and recycled metals to create unique sculptures often inspired by nature. After some 40 years in the construction field, saving raw materials, Sanford’s metalworking hobby is now his full-time passion. His converted barn houses his studio and a gallery. He is also working on a garden labyrinth where he displays his larger outdoor pieces. Sanford sells over 50+ designs from the smallest copper snail to a life size hammered copper sunflower. Maple leaves, dragonflies, spiders, turkeys, herons, flowers, frogs, cattails, stars, butterflies and fish are just some of his creations.
