Editor of religious “Liberty” journal to speak

Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. — RUTLAND — Lincoln Steed, editor of Liberty magazine, a journal of religious freedom, will speak in Rutland in May. All presentations are free and open to the public. On May 8 at 7 p.m., he will give a presentation at the Rutland Area Christian School, 112 Lincoln Avenue, answering the question, “What is Religious Freedom?” On May 9, he will be the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service at the Rutland Seventh-day Advent Church, 158 Stratton Road. The title of his first talk is “The Bones of Joseph.” Following a potluck, he will present “The Twilight of Freedom” followed by a Q&A.

The Seventh-day Adventist church, widely known for its practice of supporting religious freedom for all, began publishing Liberty magazine 100 years ago. It has a current circulation of 200,000 and is distributed to political leaders, judiciary, lawyers, and other thought leaders in North America and, through the International Religious Liberty Association, to a larger international audience. Steed has long maintained that our religious liberties and our good relationship with society at large are inextricably entwined.

Anyone planning to attend the potluck is encouraged to RSVP so plans can be made accordingly, to 802-775-5706 or 802-353-0777.
