Dust off your best lederhosen; Killington hosts inaugural Oktoberfest

Killington Oktoberfest, taking place over Columbus Day weekend, welcomes the 2015 Stein Hoisting Regional Championship featuring stacked prizes.

Oct. 9-11 — KILLINGTON — Killington Resort in conjunction with the International Federation of Stein Hoisting (IFOSH) will be hosting the 2015 Stein Hoisting Regional Championship at Killington Oktoberfest on Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 9-11. The strongest and most resilient of stein hoisters will compete for a litany of prizes, including season passes, New England Patriots tickets and a trip to Denver, Colo. to compete in the 2016 World Championships of Stein Hoisting.

Taking place at the Snowshed Base Lodge, Killington Oktoberfest is free to the public and is a collaboration between the Town of Killington, Human Movement Inc. and Killington Resort offering authentic Bavarian and craft food and beverage for everyone. Be sure not to miss the VIP Ticket Package, which features the Official Killington Oktoberfest Stein, t-shirt, authentic Tyrolean hat, all-you-can-eat food and three stein refills inside the private VIP area.

Killington Oktoberfest is not to be missed, with the Regional Championships of Stein Hoisting taking place on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. The top male and female stein hoisters also take home a season pass to Killington Resort and Pico Mountain, two tickets to a New England Patriots game, and a trip to Colorado to compete in the 2016 World Championships of Stein Hoisting at the acclaimed Denver Oktoberfest. Second and third place finishers take home a pair of Boston Bruins tickets and Killington Resort lift tickets. The inaugural Ski House Challenge will feature a plethora of classic Oktoberfest games with a side of friendly competition. Try your hand at keg bowling, bratwurst eating and the Killington Resort terra maze as spectator’s cheer and laugh with participants attempting to earn sweet prizes ranging from lift tickets, baseball tickets and items to improve every ski house. Don’t have a ski house? No problem! All groups of eight or more are welcome.

Take time to enjoy Columbus Day weekend and Vermont’s famous fall colors with lodging deals, discounts for golf, mountain biking and more. Family hours take place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where the under-21 crowd can enjoy non-alcoholic beverages, authentic German fare, and even activities for dogs. Mark your calendar for Andy the Music Man who will be on hand to play fun and lively music for the whole family. Killington’s Adventure Center will be open for a mountain of fun for everyone including the Skyeride, Beast Mountain Coaster, Skye Ropes Course, and much more.
