Curling to Resume in Woodstock

Even in summer, the air inside Union Arena is cold, allowing for ice sports like curling.

Sunday, July 10 at 6 p.m. — WOODSTOCK — The Upper Valley Curling Club invites anyone with an interest in the sport of curling to join the club for some summer fun. Summer curling resumes at 6 p.m. at the Union Arena in Woodstock on July 10, 17 and 24. There is no summer league and players are assigned to teams as they arrive.

The curling club is a well-established organization in Woodstock and the Upper Valley and has room for curlers of all ability levels. Most people are familiar with the sport of curling from watching the Winter Olympics. Olympic curlers are skilled and practiced after years of intensive play and don’t represent the average player. The Upper Valley club is comprised of a variety of men and women of different ages and ability levels who want to share their love of the game.

The charge is $20 for the evening. For those who need it, the club supplies all of the curling equipment. If you are interested in the sport but lack experience, curling club members will provide on-ice instruction at regular curling clinics. Clinics will be held on July 10 and 17. Space is limited, so interested participants must register in advance at uppervalleycurling.org

Union Arena is conveniently located on the grounds of the Woodstock Union High School on Route 4 just 1.5 miles west of the Woodstock village.
