RUTLAND–Washington Monthly magazine has named College of St. Joseph as a top 100 “Best Bang for the Buck” college in the Northeast region.
The list placed CSJ at 57 out of 402 schools in the Northeast, and CSJ was one of just two Vermont colleges to make the top 100. The University of Vermont was ranked 15th in the same report. The magazine notes that the list rates colleges that are “doing the best job of helping non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”

Since its inception in 2011, the magazine’s annual list has independently ranked colleges from around the nation that are the best value for students’ money. The list, which began as an article highlighting a small number of colleges, has grown into comprehensive ranking of colleges that is based on the college’s graduation rate, student loan default rate, number of students receiving federal Pell assistance and net price for all students.
