Come Alive Outside and Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum invite the public to name new turtle

RUTLAND—Come Alive Outside and Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum invite you to name one of the four new turtles that reside in the museum’s new display. The four turtles were recently rehomed from the Children’s Museum and Theater of Maine and now reside in a spacious aquarium in downtown Rutland’s Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum.

All four yellow-bellied sliders came pre-named, but one is getting a new moniker as part of a joint fundraising initiative. “We love the name ‘Eloise,’ but it doesn’t really fit him that well. We know that there’s a better name out there for this little turtle, and we want you to vote on it,” said Danielle Monroe, executive director of Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum.

For a $10 donation, anyone can add their preferred turtle name to the list. The top five names will be chosen for a public vote on the final name through a poll on their website and through social media. Donations will be split between the two organizations. For your chance to name the turtle, visit comealiveoutside.com/name-this-turtle/  and fill out the form, then vote for your favorite name after Dec. 16. The turtle’s new name will be announced Jan. 5.
