Collision with tree kills one

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, at approximately 2:19 a.m., the Vermont State Police and Londonderry Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Middle Town Road at the intersection with Brooks Lane, in the town of Londonderry, Vt.  The investigation revealed that Michael Hazel, age 24 from Harvard, Mass., was operating a 2008 Subaru Forester on Middle Town Road when he failed to safely navigate a sharp corner near the intersection of Brooks Lane. The vehicle crossed the other lane of travel before exiting the roadway and striking a large tree with the driver’s side of the car. Hazel sustained injuries that led to his death, police reported.

Peter Duckett, age 25 also from Harvard, was a passenger in the vehicle. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Springfield ER for treatment. This case is still under investigation.
