Collamore seeks reelection to state Senate

State Sen.Brian Collamore (R-Rutland) is seeking his fifth term.

Collamore, who serves on both the Senate Agriculture Committee and the Senate Government Operations Committee, is hopeful that he can continue to work to grow the local economy, make Vermont more affordable, and protect Vermont’s most vulnerable citizens.

“Covid relief money from the federal government allowed the state Legislature to help local businesses and Vermonters,” Collamore said. “It presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to assist Vermonters with basic needs and help local businesses remain viable. However, once this one-time money has been allocated and spent, any new programs or positions created will have to be funded by the state itself, which will mean an increase in taxes or fees. That is not what being fiscally responsible means. We must remain vigilant not to put ourselves in this position.”

Collamore has advocated for fiscal prudence, investments in economic growth, tax relief, and support for the truly needy. He has worked closely with Gov. Scott and legislators from across the aisle to put aside partisanship and pass common-sense reforms for Vermonters.

In addition to his service on the Senate Agriculture Committee and Senate Government Operations Committee, Collamore has served as co-chair of the Government Accountability Committee, vice chair of the Senate Reapportionment Committee, member of the Sunset Advisory Committee, and member of the Judicial Nominating Board.

“If Rutland County residents trust me again with their vote, I will continue to fiercely advocate for the interests of our region,” said Collamore. “Now more than ever we need to roll up our sleeves and ensure Vermonters’ voices are heard in the State House.”
