Clash of gold and silver

Sunday, July 18 at 4 p.m. — RUTLAND — Cackling witches, moaning specters and rattling skeletons are the last things that come to mind in a concert featuring tuba, french horn and piano! But this Grace Congregational Church offers those sounds and more. Bill Keck, Ron Wold and Alastair Stout offer a concert of music by American and British composers, the highlight of which is the Haunted America Suite by Justin Raines. The four-movement suite is based on ghost stories from around the USA, including the legend of La Llorona, the ghosts of Gettysburg and the Bell Witch. Other pieces in the program include the exciting ‘Color Codes’ by Elizabeth Raum, the expansive ‘Big Sky’ by Frank Gulino and the world premier of ‘In Memoriam’ by Grace Church Minister of Music, Alastair Stout. A reception will follow the concert, which is free, in-person, and on Facebook Live. Grace Church is located at 8 Court St., Rutland.
