Chaffee presents annual Autumn All-Member Exhibit opening and mural recognition

Friday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Chaffee Art Center welcomes the public to view the artwork of its members, which will be exhibited at the historic Chaffee Art Center at 16 South Main Street, Rutland. This year’s annual Autumn All Member Exhibit will highlight the work of over 30 members including honorary international member Persi Narvaez’s miniature studies of the new downtown mural. An opening reception will be held Friday, Sept. 12 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Artist Persi Narvaez of Lima, Peru, returned to Rutland this summer to paint a mural at the corner of Evelyn and West Streets. He first came to Rutland in 2012, when he painted another large scale mural that can be seen from the backside of the Opera House on Evelyn Street. This summer’s mural depicts notable historical architecture of Rutland. The background is a wash of blues, purples, and greens, with the buildings popping with geometric designs in bright oranges, reds, yellows and greens. This is Rutland’s largest mural to date. Meet Persi at the official introduction at the corner of Evelyn and West Streets at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.
