Celebration of Middlebury held Saturday

Saturday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. — MIDDLEBURY — Whether you are new or have deep roots in the region, businesses in the Middlebury area invite you to town to celebrate the wealth of clubs, volunteer opportunities, services, kids’ programs, and local arts and entertainment options. At Welcome to Middlebury, USA, Town Hall Theater (THT) presents more than 25 organizations in a free, fun, entertaining, and informative event.

Join THT on Saturday, Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Celebrate THT Education’s 10-year anniversary celebration at 1:30 p.m. with free cake and a short program. Explore the kids’ zone with fun activities for a range of ages — plus enjoy other entertainment surprises. And enter to win door prizes and receive a complimentary tote bag with special local offers for the first 200 attendees.

Participating organizations include THT resident companies: Maiden Vermont, Middlebury Acting Company, Middlebury Community Players, Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, The Opera Company of Middlebury, and THT’s Young Company. They will be joined by wide-ranging organizations such as ACORN,  Addison County Readers, Addison County Solid Waste Management District, Homeward Bound, Ilsley Public Library, Lemon Fair Insect Control District, Maple Broadband, Middlebury Area Land Trust, Middlebury College’s Center for Community Engagement, Middlebury Community Music Center, Middlebury Garden Club, Middlebury Studio School, Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, Minibury, Otter Creek Audubon Society, Rotary Club, United Way, Vermont Children’s Museum, and Women Safe.

“Each local organization at Welcome to Middlebury, USA faces its own unique challenges and brings important offerings to our community. As we all rebuild together, engagement, participation, and collective wellbeing is key,” said Lisa Mitchell, THT executive director.

“This event is a good opportunity to share our message and garner support,” said participant Steve Huffaker, chairman of Maple Broadband, who is committed to providing universal internet access to Addison County.
