Rutland Young Professionals announce 2021 members of the year

Rutland Young Professionals announced the results of its 2021 members of the year awards on February 1.

The Young Professional of the Year award recognizes an emerging leader under the age of 45 who lives/works in the Rutland Region, demonstrates leadership qualities in both his or her personal and professional life, and is active in the community.

Janelle Howard

The 2021 Young Professional of the Year is Janelle Howard. Howard is the owner of Amber Sprott Boutique, a designer dress boutique located on Center Street in downtown Rutland. Howard has more than 20 years of experience in the pageant world and has worked as a pageant consultant for the past 10 years, helping young girls and women reach their dreams while shining a positive light on the Rutland Region at the national level. Howard is active in both RYP and the community, participating in the 2019 fashion show and serving on the board of directors for Downtown Rutland Partnership.

The Business of the Year award recognizes businesses that are active supporters of Rutland Young Professionals and/or have their own internal young professionals group, employ a significant percentage of young professionals, and demonstrate leadership and success in the Rutland Region.

The 2021 Business of the Year is GE Aviation. GE Aviation is the world-leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial, military, business, and general aviation aircraft. GE Aviation has been an ardent champion of Rutland Young Professionals’ work, serving as a gold sponsor and hosting several RYP mixers over the years. GE Aviation has also cultivated a culture of support through their own internal young professionals group.
