Become a part of the Vermont Adaptive Community

Vermont Adaptive athletes, volunteers and ambassadors pose together after skiing at a past United States Association of Blind Athletes Winter Festival.

Vermont Adaptive succeeds because of the dedication of more than 400 highly-trained volunteer instructors. They are searching for energetic, dedicated individuals who have a passion for sports and want to share that passion with others. Vermont Adaptive volunteers dedicate their free time to help individuals with disabilities rediscover their abilities and achieve their dreams through sports and recreation. Volunteers are from all walks of life but have one mission in mind – to help those with disabilities enjoy sports and recreation on a daily basis.

Around this time of year you’d be hearing about off-snow volunteer training dates. Due to the pandemic they are not hosting in-person off-snow training in November like they usually do, but they will be having training for you. They’re working on a series of teaching modules that will be available in mid-November, and you will have about a month to complete these modules in order to complete this year’s off-snow training. This will be required by all volunteers who wish to join this winter, as it always has been.

They are working on winter Return to Play guidelines and plans for the upcoming months as well. Programs tentatively will begin Dec. 26 with major modifications. The first priority will be to keep everyone as healthy and safe as possible. State, federal and CDC guidelines, plus individual resort modifications, are being used to create this plan. It will be similar to their Return to Play plan from July when they returned to summer programs.

Vermont Adaptive will be adhering to Vermont’s Cross State Travel map for travel for those coming from out of state, and this will apply to all volunteers, participants and anyone else wanting to be present at our locations. You can view the map here: accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/restart/cross-state-travel.

If you have completed the steps to renew your active volunteer status (you were emailed a confirmation), thank you so much. If you have not completed the steps or you are a new volunteer, please complete them as soon as possible. This process takes time on your end to complete, on ours to track and we want to make sure everyone has access to the off snow training to be ready for the season.

New and returning volunteers please visit vermontadaptive.org/users/volunteer_create_account to complete the process.

Log in using your username and password or create a new account if you have not done this form before. If you do not remember or have a password, please email Tom at south@vermontadaptive.org

As always, if you have any issues at all, the program staff is at your service as well. Contact Tom Alcorn (south@vermontadaptive.org) or Norm Staunton (advancement@vermontadaptive.org).

Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
