Baxter Street park opens

RUTLAND—Baxter Street Park has opened, according to a news release Friday, July 1. “Thanks to many hours of effort from community members and the Rutland Recreation Parks staff the Baxter Street Park is now open,” wrote Cindi Wight, director of Rutland Recreation.

An official grand opening event is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be free ice cream at the event.

“We encourage everyone to come down now and check out this beautiful new park with great features, including a family-style swing, a tether ball, a spinner, a playground structure, a shelter and picnic tables, plus a nice grassy area just for free play!” Wight said. “We’d like to thank … many community members for their donations to make this park a reality. We also appreciated the support of our Northwest neighborhood partners NeighborWorks of Western Vermont and the Rutland Redevelopment—without your support this park would not be able to offer children another reason to get out and go play!”
