ARC Christmas dinner dance to bring joy and inclusion

RUTLAND—ARC Rutland Area and the Elks Club are holding a Christmas Dinner Dance for people with developmental disabilities and their families on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 12-4 p.m. at the Elk’s Legion on Pleasant Street, Rutland. Good food, family and friends, music, dancing, gifts and Santa, too, will be rounding out the afternoon. Please call as soon as possible if you wish to attend. People attending the dances in the past have said they don’t feel as isolated, they feel more joy, and it gives them something to look forward to.
Most people with Developmental Disabilities do not create circles of supports as well as children and young adults without disabilities. This Christmas Dinner Dance is to help create community amongst peers during the holiday seasons and possibly make new friends.
ARC Rutland Area is an organization that advocates for the rights of citizens with Developmental Disabilities and their families to be regarded as valued citizens with the same entitlements as non-disabled individual, including the right to lifelong opportunities for personal growth and full participation in the community. Its programs are derived from this mission: Advocacy, resources and community opportunities.
ARC can be reached at 802-775-1370 or by email at info@arcrutlandarea.org.
