African music brings culture to Tunbridge

Saturday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. — TUNBRIDGE — Kina Zoré will be bringing his global sounds of peace and brotherhood to the Tunbridge Town Hall on Saturday, Jan. 10 in a concert presented by MountainFolk.

Kina Zoré unites story and song through vibrant rhythms and rich instrumental colors, creating music that delights as much as it moves. Led by Mozambican native Helder Tsinine and featuring members from across North America, Europe, and Africa, the group is the recipient of the 2012 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the 2011 Peacedriven Award. Kina Zoré has also been internationally recognized by BBC Africa, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Agência Angola Press. In the spirit of Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and Thomas Mapfumo, Kina Zoré seeks to illuminate social issues that impact communities near and abroad, featuring lyrics and rhythms of social change. Vital to the group’s live performances are exhilarating drum breaks, lyrical solos, and undeniably danceable rhythms. Kina Zoré is a musical force not to be missed.
