A season to remember

KILLINGTON — No, it’s not this winter’s ski season; it’s the winter swim season! The competitive Killington Aquatic Club Winter Swim season was good!  This past weekend, Feb. 20-21, Killington Aquatic Club swimmers Heidi Alf, Justine Peters, Nova Wang, Sophia Nisimblat, and Ethan Courcelle competed in a qualifying time meet in Andover, Mass. The meet saw over 750 swimmers and the competition was skilled.  Last year KAC had just three swimmers qualify for this meet; this year it doubled its number with seven swimmers qualifying.

Among the seven swimmers, Heidi Alf, age 11, qualified in eight events and finished strong in her best events: 50 Backstroke, 100 IM, and 100 Backstroke. Justine Peters, age 12, swam in five events over the weekend and also finished strong in her best events: 50 Butterfly,100 Butterfly, and 50 Freestyle.  Ethan Courcelle, Sophia Nisimblat, and Nova Wang all first time qualifiers to this championship meet swam fast and enjoyed the competition, too.

KAC has one more meet left for this season, Bailey Peters, age 16, will be competing at AGE Group meet on March 11-13. Bailey Peters is expected to get personal best in all five of her events and is hoping to make finals for each.
