Sunday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. — ROCHESTER — The BigTown Gallery in Rochester is celebrating its 13th year of exhibits and arts programming, promising an exciting group of accomplished and vibrant artists and writers who will be showing or performing at BigTown. Director of BigTown Anni Mackay is particularly enthusiastic about the lineup of writers in the Joan Hutton Landis Reading Series 2016, which begins May 15.
“I am particularly pleased with this summer’s performing writers,” Mackay says. “Thanks to the thoughtful selection by our two curators to the series, fiction writer Tracy Winn, a long-time summer resident of Granville, Vt., and poet Ping Woon-Chin, adjunct professor in the department of English at Dartmouth, and resident of St. Johnsbury, we have an outstanding selection of authors, from emerging to well-known, from poets to memoirists, from as near as Middlebury to as far as San Francisco; all of them will bring their own styles and perspectives to our BigTown audiences.” Beginning with the first reading on May 15, presenting Helen Fremont, Genanne Walsh, and Ros Zimmermann, the Sunday afternoon literary readings series promises to inform, inspire, and transport listeners.
All seven readings occur on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. First come, best seat.
All programming is presented by the Gallery’s non-profit sister-entity, BigTown Projects, which is generously supported by loyal audience members and partners, and is free (unless noted otherwise) and open to the public. Events are held at BigTown Gallery located on Route 100 at 99 North Main, Rochester.
