Jonathan Bisch of Jamaica, Vt., placed fourth at the Carolina SUP Cup Money Island Open Race in his 6.5 mile technical class.

Jonathan Bisch of Jamaica, Vt., earned fourth place in the men’s over 50 class in the 6.5 mile Money Island Open race. The event was held at the Carolina Stand-Up Paddleboarding Cup in Wrightsville Beach, N.C., on April 23 this year.

This is the biggest SUP race in the United States and has over 1,000 competitors. There are three different races that competitors choose from: 3 mile, 6.5 mile and the 13.5 mile graveyard. Professionals like Titouan Puyo, Danny Ching, Travis Grant, Anabel Anderson, Fiona Wylde and Candice Apleby competed in this race.

Bisch races in the technical class on a 12-foot, 6-inch race board and enjoys the work that is required to use this size. For the first race of the season Bisch said he was pleased with his results and is looking forward to improving and switching to his new narrower race board.

Look for Bisch on his blue board training with Karen Dalury from Killington Yoga at Woodward Reservoir or Kent Pond.
