CASTLETON—The Sharon Brown Memorial Award is given annually to a female student athlete. She must relate well to peers with a desire to excel and dedication to her team. She has shown leadership, academic achievement and service to the community, as well as possibly playing more than one sport.
This year’s recipient is senior two-sport athlete Rachel Bombardier of Pittsford.
She has played women’s ice hockey for the past four years, appearing in 98 games with 15 goals and 23 assists. This past year she was named captain, while also serving as captain of the women’s Lacrosse team.
As a Lacrosse goalie she has a 14-5 record and is a two-time all-conference selection. Bombardier also holds career marks for goals against average and save percentage.
Off the field, she has earned All-Academic honors from CoSIDA, ECAC, NEHC and the NAC while boasting a GPA over 3.90.
