Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. — QUECHEE — The Vermont Institute of Natural Science will present a showing of the film “ The Messenger ” on Friday, May 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. The film is free and open to the public.
Join VINS and avian ecologist Dr. Jameson Chace, vice-president of the Wilson Ornithological Society, for a viewing of this fascinating documentary, just in time for International Migratory Bird Day, which VINS will celebrate on May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dr. Chace will set the stage for Su Reynard’s influential film and guide us through a discussion of our role in the plight of the songbirds.
“ The Messenger ” is an artful investigation into the causes of songbird mass depletion and the compassionate people who are working to turn the tide. The film takes viewers on a visually stunning journey revealing how the problems facing birds also pose daunting implications for the planet and for humans.
Jameson Chace, PhD, is an associate professor of biology at Salve Regina University. His research involves creating opportunities for undergraduates to acquire experience in field ecology and environmental sciences. He has been awarded two NSF grants related to marine response to climate change and the collaborative Northeast Water Regional Network (Rhode Island, Delaware and Vermont). He also maintains active research programs in avian ecology and in hydrophonics.
