Saturday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. — BRANDON — Dust off those dancing shoes! Compass Music and Arts Center is holding a Sock Hop on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 7-10 p.m. In conjunction with the town-wide theme of “Brandon Rocks On,” the 1950s and 60s style dance party also marks the end of their summer exhibit, “Roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
Don’t miss a night of swing dancing, 50s and 60s music and root beer floats. The doors open at 7 p.m. with a half hour swing dance lesson given at 7:15 p.m. by local instructor David Allan. Open dancing begins at 8 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. Refreshments will be available and you can enter a chance to win swing dancing dolls made by Mim Zelis of ‘Red Clover, SEW Vermont.’
Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the door; reservations are appreciated. All proceeds support the Compass Music and Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides educational and arts-supportive programs and events in the community.
The Compass Music and Arts Center is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located at Park Village, 333 Jones Dr., Brandon.
