OVGC men’s league results, Aug. 5

LUDLOW – With one week remaining in Okemo Valley Golf Club’s Men’s League, the chase for the Commissioner’s Cup became more competitive on Aug. 5. Stryhas Builders, who entered the night in fifth position, socked the fourth place UBS squad, as super-sub Stew Schmidt won 7.5 holes, and Ted Stryhas, PJ Garvey and Charlie Howard combined to win another 14.5 for 22 holes won total – taking first place for the night. The fourth-place Diamond Realty walloped the third-place Willie Dunn’s team, as Diamonds’ Roger Danyew, Bob Higgins, Larry Plumb and Herb Eddy combined to win 20 holes.

The big news for the night was second-place Built Rite MFG. thumping first-place EVS Metal, as Pat McLaughlin, John Smith, Jim Poissant and Francis Devine combined to win 20 holes – providing a renewed chance for catching EVS Metal in the double-point scramble finale. Closest to the pin winners were Charlie Dickerman on the 4th hole and Doug Lemire on the 8th hole.
