Coolidge Foundation hosts naturalization ceremony

Plymouth Notch—The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation partnered with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to host an official naturalization ceremony on Monday, Aug. 11.

The Honorable John M. Conroy, U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, administered the Oath of Allegiance to 20 citizenship candidates at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vt.  Matthew Denhart, executive director of the Coolidge Foundation, welcomed the citizenship candidates and guests. The Honorable Judge Conroy and Mr. Denhart delivered congratulatory remarks to the new citizens and their guests. Jennifer Sayles Harville, the great-granddaughter of President and Grace Coolidge, performed the national anthem. A light reception followed.

The citizenship candidates represented the following 16 countries: Bhutan (3), Burundi, Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Iceland, India, Jamaica, Nepal (2), Philippines, Somalia (2), Guinea, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

USCIS naturalization ceremonies in Vermont are judicial ceremonies. With court approval this ceremony was held at the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation to promote public awareness of the U.S. citizenship process.
