Aug. 16-17 — WOODSTOCK — Billings Farm & Museum is featuring Heritage Chicken Days on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traditional livestock breeds are an essential part of our agricultural heritage and an important resource for the future. The farm programs will feature a variety of heritage chicken breeds to learn about their unique traits; all are protected breeds of The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, a nonprofit membership organization working to conserve over 180 historic breeds of livestock and poultry and maintain genetic diversity.
Billings Farm is an operating Jersey dairy farm that continues a 143-year tradition of agricultural excellence and offers farm programs and historical exhibits that explore Vermont’s rural heritage and values. The Farm & Museum has served as a gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage for over a million visitors and 100,000 of the region’s school children.
Chicken-themed activities and programs during the Heritage Chicken Days at the farm for children include make-it-and-take crafts and games. Admission includes all activities and programs, plus the operating dairy farm, farm life exhibits, the restored and furnished 1890 Farm House, andthe 28th Annual Quilt Exhibition. Adult admission is $14, 62+ is $13; children age 5-15 is $8; 3-4 is $4; 2 & under is free.
