Saturday, Aug. 16 — KILLINGTON — Changes in Latitudes will perform a free concert at Killington Resort’s K-1 base area on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The concert is part of the Town of Killington’s Cooler in the Mountains summer series.
Changes in Latitudes is the country’s premiere tribute show to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett. The ten-piece band travels the country with beach balls, dancing conga lines, and fun for all ages. Concert-goers are encouraged to help bring the beach party to Killington, don their best Hawaiian outfit, and enter to win two early season lift tickets courtesy of Killington Resort.
Vocalist Steve Kareta mimics Buffett’s casual, storytelling style in front of a full tropical stage, taking concert goers through the sun-drenched waters of the Caribbean, all while being stationed slopeside at Killington. Expect to hear classics such as “Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” and of course, “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.” The band also performs crowd-pleasing favorites like “Brown Eyed Girl” and the Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett hit “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”
Cooler in the Mountains performances are scheduled every Saturday afternoon, through August 30. The concerts are free and open to all ages, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn blankets and chairs to enjoy the scenic views. The events also feature specialty Long Trail beer tastings along with a BBQ at Killington Resort’s Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars, lawn games and outdoor fun. Plus all in attendance will have the chance to win a 2014-2015 Killington Season Pass, which will be given away at the conclusion of the concert series.
The next concert on Aug. 23 features Grammy nominated roots rocker Will Hoge.
