Stafford students recently celebrated the completion of the Student Craft Corporation House. A multidisciplinary effort.

RUTLAND–Stafford Technical Center students recently celebrated the completion and sale of its Student Craft Corporation house. The Student Craft Corporation is formed by students from the Construction Technology, Electrical/Plumbing, and Forestry/Natural Resources & Horticulture programs. Biennially, these students are involved in the construction of an energy-efficient home.

The Student Craft Corporation builds homes from foundation to finish. The Construction Technology program builds these “spec” houses with the same quality as professional builders. The Electrical/Plumbing program provides the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) work. They install the high level energy efficient products that help lead to a 5-star-plus energy rated house. Forestry/Natural Resources & Horticulture performs the landscaping using native plants and stormwater management practices to create an attractive and environmentally friendly setting. At completion they are put on the market and sold for the purpose of reinvestment.
