Rolling up and down Killington, a cross-discipline bike event

By Polly Lynn

The Killington (Up &) Down Hill Roll was held Sunday, Oct. 11. The event saw approximately 75 riders compete in teams of three with an uphill, cross-country and downhill portion.

“It was definitely pretty grueling, especially the uphill part,” said Ben Colona, Killington Sports at Snowshed store manager for Killington Resort and the president of the Killington Mountain Bike Club. “The winning team had a commanding lead,” Colona added, “they finished the whole race in 54 minutes, which is very fast!”

Colona says the event raised about $4,500 for the club, which in total has raised about $10,000 since February of this year with the Rollin’ Fatties event and memberships added in. The club is fundraising for a matching grant from the town in order to build trails by Kent Pond in the spring.
