Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. —CASTLETON—The Castleton University Department of Theater Arts presents “August: Osage County” beginning Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Casella Theater.
“August: Osage County” is the story of a vanished father, a pill-popping mother and three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after dad disappears, their Oklahoma family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major new play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
The play was the winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best New Play.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. in the Casella Theater Thursday, Sept. 24 through Saturday, Sept. 26 with an additional performance on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.
Tickets for this performance are $12 for adults and $7 for Castleton faculty and staff, as well as seniors and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office. This performance is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
