Dizzy cyclist crashes into car

CLARENDON — On Monday, Aug. 24, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Vermont State Police responded to a report of a collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist near 2295 Creek Road in Clarendon.

Upon arrival the bicyclist, John Foster, age 68, from Clarendon, was sitting on the ground against the vehicle and was being tended to by a tenant living nearby, and the driver, John Gauthier, age 62, from West Rutland.

Investigation revealed that while traveling south bound on Creek Road the cyclist became light headed, crossed the center line, and drifted into Gauthier’s Honda Pilot as it was passing in the opposite lane.

Regional Ambulance Service arrived on scene and transported Foster to Rutland Regional Medical Center. According to police, he sustained injuries to the left side of the head and left side of the body — shoulder, elbow, and hip.The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured.
