Encounter live caterpillars at VINS’ Incredible Insect Festival.
Saturday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m.—QUECHEE—Join the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) in celebration of the fascinating world of insects on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fill the day with adventure as you encounter live caterpillars and other insects up close and discover their importance to our world. In the Caterpillar Lab, renowned expert Sam Jaffe will introduce visitors to a multitude of live caterpillars throughout the day. Musical guests The Swing Peepers will engage hildren and their families with Vermont-made music and storytelling. Brian Burkholder will explain how humans use insects to catch fish during his flytying and casting demonstrations.
For incredible fun, enjoy jumping like a grasshopper in the solar-powered bounce house with SunCommon, which will be available all day. Also, the day will feature face painting, bug hunts, and an opportunity to make homes for pollinators. Other attractions include birds-on-glove and the King Arthur Flour cookie truck. All events are included with price of admission to the Nature Center, which is $13.50 for adults; $12.50 for seniors, 65 and over; $11.50 for youth, ages 4 to 17; and free for members and for children 3 and under.
