Early in the morning on Thursday, July 16, Paul Holmes and his Golden Retriever Maggie hiked to the top of the mountain to watch the sunrise. “I have been waiting for a crisp clear morning with a potentially good sunrise with some wild flowers in the foreground,” said Holmes, a photographer in Killington. Holmes and his dog hiked up on the mountain at 4:30 a.m. to be ready for sunrise about 5:30 a.m. “Sunrises really are better up on the mountain,” he added.
