Killington Wine Festival uncorks, July 17-19

Taste over 300 wines from around the world

KILLINGTON–The Killington Wine Festival celebrates its 14th anniversary July 17-19 with three days of specialty wine tasting events. Gaining more attention each year, this signature event attracts hundreds of wine and food enthusiasts.

Throughout the weekend, representatives from over 30 wineries and distributors pour more than 300 wines from around the world. This is one of the widest selections of wines available for tasting in New England! Additionally, patrons will be able to sample a bounty of wine-friendly food offered by area restaurants and specialty Vermont producers.

The event kicks off Friday evening with the Estate Wine Tasting at Killington Resort’s Peak Lodge. Select wineries will offer samples from their collections of estate and reserve wines. Representatives will be on hand to discuss each wine, educating attendees about the nuances of the fine wines being sampled. Tickets to the Estate Tasting are limited, with only 200 tickets available. Running concurrently with the Estate Tasting, the Killington Wine Trail will showcase 13 local establishments offering a special wine or food and wine pairing.

The signature event of the festival, the Grand Tasting, will be held on Saturday afternoon at the foot of Killington Mountain at Killington Resort’s Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars. Guests will have the opportunity to move among the large white tents and umbrella bars, enjoying a seemingly endless variety of wines. In addition to the large international selection, the Grand Tasting will also feature Vermont wines and spirits as well as local artisanal foods including cheeses, chocolates and more. Admission to the event includes tastings, wine-friendly fare, a round-trip scenic gondola ride, and signature tote with wine glass.

On Saturday evening several Killington restaurants will hold culinary events ranging from wine samplings to multi-course gourmet wine dinners. Special guests from the wineries accompany many of these dinners and offer interactive discussions on a variety of wine topics. Space is limited at these events and early reservations are encouraged.

The three-day event concludes with the Wine and Nine Golf Outing at nearby Green Mountain National Golf Course. Always a sell-out event, the Wine and Nine offers golfers of all abilities a chance to play a lighthearted round of golf on Vermont’s top public golf course.
