GMNGC introduces Family Fun Nights, Wednesdays

KILLINGTON–Green Mountain National Golf Course recently announced the debut of Family Fun Nights. The new program, which launches July 8 and continues every Wednesday through the summer months, is designed to encourage families to try the game of golf through a fun, affordable experience at one of Vermont’s top public courses.

Wednesday Family Fun Nights begin at 5 p.m. They are designed to offer “relaxed golf instruction at the driving range, organized on-course play and games, and post-play snacks and refreshments in the clubhouse,” organizers stated in a recent press release.

“Family Fun Night is a perfect opportunity for families to try the great game of golf together, in this beautiful mountain setting,” said Green Mountain National’s general manager and PGA professional Dave Soucy. “Along with hiking and mountain biking, it’s another great way to have an outdoor adventure here in Killington. And with so many choices available today for family trips and activities, we want to make golf a viable option.”

Family golf is growing in popularity, as more courses across the country are adopting family-friendly programs, introducing the sport to the younger set with the goal of developing the next generation of players and members.

VSWGA Senior Championship

On July 15 and 16, Green Mountain National is proud to host the Vermont State Women’s Golf Association Senior Championship. The 2015 Ruth Raymond Jones Memorial Seniors’ Championship will showcase Vermont’s top women golfers, age 55 and older, who compete in three divisions: Senior (55-64); Super Senior (65-69); and Legend (70 and over.) A field of 100 golfers is expected for the two-day event.

Wine and Nine” Tournament

The month of July also brings the return of the Killington Wine Festival, and the very popular “Wine and Nine” Golf Tournament on July 19. The event includes nine holes of golf with some on-course tastings, plus a post-tournament gourmet dinner paired with more featured wines.

Chef Bryan Gudelis and the staff of The Garlic Restaurant will also be back this year serving on-course bites at their special “Tapas Tent.” He’ll be highlighting just a few of the small plate delicacies served at The Garlic’s Olive Bar.

Early sign-up is encouraged as space is limited (the event has sold-out for the last four years.) For more information, visit www.gmngc.com.
