Life of Thaddeus Lorentz to be celebrated July 18

A celebration of life for longtime Rutland attorney and resident Thaddeus R. Lorentz, who passed away on June 17, will be held at the Pico Base Lodge on Saturday, July 18, at 3 p.m. Those attending are asked to wear a bow tie in honor of the man who was known for the bow tie as his favorite and trademark neckwear.

Friendly and outgoing, Thaddeus was a charming raconteur who was known to many not only for his “awesome stories,” wry sense of humor, legal work, and bow tie but also for his many talents. They included acting in local theater productions, playing several instruments, composing music, and teaching people to ski.

A true bon vivant, Thaddeus was a delight to know — and he was known a-la-Cheers style to most everyone! He died too young at age 66 from pancreatic cancer.

Born in Rochester, N.Y., on November 23, 1948 to immigrant parents Olga and Leopold Lorentz, Thaddeus Roman Lorentz grew up speaking both Polish and English and cherished his Polish heritage and history.
