Drivers pile up the way only demolition derby can, as they vie for “last engine running.”
Saturday July 4 — RUTLAND —July 4 is a smashing good time in Rutland, as events hit the Vermont State Fairgrounds during the Saturday holiday this year for Summer Smash 2015.
From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 3, 4 and 5, a Summer Smash Flea Market/ Craft Fair will be held in front of the grandstand outside, and in the arcade room inside. The market benefits the Rutland County Agricultural Society d.b.a., The Vermont State Fair.
In the Bingo Hall, cash bingo will be held from 3-7 p.m. Saturday only. Win cash, not stuffed animals! It’s $1 per card to play, with no limit. If there’s still a crowd at 7 p.m., play will continue until 9 p.m.
Summer Smash 2015 really gets “smashing” with the Stoney Roberts Demolition Derby at 6:30 p.m. Watch your favorite drivers battle it out for winnings as locally-painted demo cars get dented and destroyed. Last one running, wins! Tickets are on sale at the front gate starting at 4:30 p.m.
The highlight of the evening, don’t miss the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Extravaganza which has previously been awarded Readers Choice Award for “Best Fireworks in the Region” by The Vermont Eagle! The Chamber is providing a community celebration of our nation’s independence with the area’s largest fireworks display. The fireworks will begin promptly at 9:45 p.m. at the Vermont State Fairgrounds on Route 7, Rutland.
