Trail of the Week: Noodle’s revenge

By Tony Accurso

Correction:

In last week’s edition, May 21-27, in the article “Trail of the week: Noodle’s Revenge” we incorrectly attributed the flagging of the trail to Accurso; Jason Hayden actually did the flag work and deserves the credit.

Noodles Revenge is a sweet flow trail in Pittsfield at the Green Mountain Trails. It’s a green/ easy trail which switches back broadly, and eases the climb by lowering the angle of ascent. Its fun going up, and super fun descending. It’s a great introduction and a fantastic yet underrated local trail system.

Built in 2009 it’s 2.5 miles up from Riverside farm to the overlook with long switchbacks and middle chain ring for easy climbing. When Jason Hayden designed it he wanted a trail that was fun in both directions – Charlie Bowen did the machine work and I flagged it, death racers hauled in bridges, and numerous folks helped with raking, cutting roots, and cleaning it up. It has rolling terrain so even on the climb up you get some flat sections and small downhills for a break.

Tony Accurso is the owner of Alpine Bike Works and Fat Bikes of Vermont located at 2046 route 4 in Killington, Vt. An accomplished athlete in his own right, Accurso is passionate about sharing his experience with others.
