Saturday, February 4 — HARTFORD/QUEECHEE— Learn the basics of ice fishing during a free clinic at Dewey’s Mills Pond. Topics covered will include safety, equipment, regulations and more, providing you with the skills to ice fish on your own. All equipment will be provided. Participants should dress for the weather and for walking on ice. Consider bringing something warm to drink and a bucket or a chair to rest on, too.
Youth Derby is from 7:30 a.m. to 12-noon. Learn to fish clinic is 8:30-11:30 a.m.
VT Fish & Wildlife instructors will teach the basic skills of ice fishing like rigging, and using a tip-up, using an auger to bore your fishing hole. Also included in the program is information about basic ice safety and how to determine adequate ice thickness for fishing.
Clinic is open to all ages; children under the age of 15 must bring an adult. Each person participating must register with the Hartford Parks & Recreation Dept. at: hartfordvt.myrec.com.Location details will be given upon registering.
