Brandon Artists Guild helps founding member Jackee Foley

“Marsh Mansion” by Jackee Foley will be on display at Brandon Artists Guild, part of Foley’s exhibit through June 2.

Friday, May 1 at 5 p.m. — BRANDON — Jackee Foley is a third-generation resident of Brandon. She has contributed much to the community with her talents. For several years, Foley owned a frame shop in town, but had to put her own art on hold.

In 2006, Foley resumed making art at her studio at The Granary on Union Street in Brandon, where she works daily and diligently. Best known for her finely detailed paintings of animals and nature, her passion for her subject matter is evident.

On Dec. 30, 2014, a tragedy occurred when her family home, belongings and dear pets were lost in a five-alarm fire. The community reached out generously to help her. Thankfully, 95 percent of her art and materials were in her studio at The Granary.

The Brandon Artists Guild, of which she is a founding member, will be hosting a solo show of Foley’s work, with 100 percent of the sales going to the artist. She is hoping to earn enough money to start constructing the foundation of her new home. This will represent a new beginning.

The show, “Jackee Foley: The Past and the Present” will be featured from April 30 to June 2, with an opening reception on Friday, May 1 from 5-7 p.m. The show will be a retrospective of Foley’s work, with new work featuring the lovely buildings and architecture of Brandon. This is Foley’s way of honoring Brandon for the outreach the community has given her.

Brandon Artists Guild is located at 7 Center Street, Brandon. For more info, call 802-247-8668 or visit brandonartistsguild.org.
