Killington/Pico’s Dan Bergeron receives prestigious Einar Aas Award

Long-time snow sports manager recognized for excellence by PSIA

Killington Resort announced Tuesday, Dec. 13, that Killington/Pico Snow Sports Operations Manager Dan Bergeron has been named the recipient of the prestigious Einar Aas Award from the Eastern Division of the Professional Ski Instructors of America for 2022. This award recognizes dynamic leadership within a snow sports school while achieving and maintaining the highest standards. Recipients are nominated by members and selected by their peers.

“Dan’s greatest success in the industry has been with the people he has cultivated into Snowsports leadership roles,” said Killington Snow Sport Director Dave Beckwith. “When you look at the roster of people who have worked for Dan over the years it is the Who’s Who of snow sports management. Many of these individuals are snow sports school directors themselves. Dan has had a broad and long-lasting impact on snow sports management for many years. We are proud to see Dan recognized for his hard work, commitment, and dedication to snow sports management and instruction here in the East.”

Bergeron has spent 37 years in the snow sports industry, serving as the ski school director at Okemo for 22 years, the ski school director for Mount Ascutney and spending the past 11 years as operations manager at Killington. As a divisional clinic leader and development team member for the eastern division of PSIA, Bergeron has educated and evaluated ski instructors throughout the East Coast. He was also a member of the snow sports management committee which established direction for educational content.

“This award is for all of the PSIA Eastern Region, which has over 11,000 members,” said Bergeron. “To get this award is almost like the pinnacle of your career in snow sports management. With all the years I’ve spent in management, it’s quite an honor and quite an achievement to be recognized that way.”

Killington Resort’s Ski School is among the top in the country and was recognized for its beginner lessons as a past winner of the National Ski Area Association’s Conversion Cup. Instruction programs are available for all levels. For more information on learning to ski or ride at The Beast, visit Killington.com/lessons.
