The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Killington Elementary School (KES) are reopening their holiday store after a two-year pandemic hiatus and are looking for donations of like-new scarves, jewelry, knickknacks, games, puzzles, books, toys, holiday decorations, housewares, and other valuables.
All donations to the store are inventoried, priced, sold and wrapped by students.
Other great donations are wrapping paper, tape and ribbons. (No scented donations or well-loved stuffed animals will be accepted.) Donations are being accepted daily until Wednesday, Dec. 14. Then the store will be open for all KES students Dec. 19-20 to shop and purchase gifts (all under $1) for family and friends.
“This store gives our 3rd-5th grade students the opportunity to practice working in retail, including sorting merchandise, adding money, calculating coins received and change due, writing receipts, gift wrapping purchases and customer service,” said Holly Getty, KES 3rd grade teacher.
All money will be donated to charities of the students’ choosing, Getty added.
