Killington Police Dept. grows to three

The Killington Police Department announced the appointment of Officer Christopher Roy, in a news release Oct. 14. Roy was hired last month but his first day on the job was Saturday, Oct. 8.

Officer Roy began his career in 2008, with the Bennington County sheriffs department, where he worked as a deputy performing patrol duties such as motor vehicle enforcement, DUI patrols, civil service and citizen assist calls. In 2012 Officer Roy transitioned to the Vermont Drug Task Force, where he worked as a detective sergeant investigating drug- and gun-related crimes.

Additionally, he assisted the Vermont State Police major crime unit to investigate homicides and with Federal partners, investigating Federal cases relating to drug and gun crimes.

Police Chief Whit Montgomery stated: “I am excited to welcome Officer Roy aboard, I feel he will be a perfect fit, not only for the department, but also the community.”

Chief Montgomery added that Officer Roy’s personality blends well with the community-oriented style of policing practiced in Killington. “He is professional, personable and approachable and his experience with working complicated cases will be a benefit to our community,” Montgomery said.

If you would like to meet Officer Roy, Officer Hoffman or Chief Montgomery, they will be hosting a Coffee with a Cop event at Liquid Art in the near future where officers will be on hand to discuss any concerns or areas of interest community members have. Event will be announced in this newspapers calendar of events.
