Three Dems seek two Windsor county House seats

By Curt Peterson

Three Democrat candidates are seeking two seats in the Windsor 1 House district, serving Hartland, Windsor and West Windsor on Aug. 9

Incumbent John Bartholomew (D- Hartland) said his constituents are interested in transportation costs and housing issues, which have become expensive and scarce, and the expense of traveling to work is high, affecting our aging population in particular. His focus would be climate change mitigation infrastructure.

Paul Belaski (D-Windsor), said his goals are to see Covid “gone,” to see effective effort regarding climate change, reasonable gun control, available affordable housing, and sustainable childcare.

Belaski’s constituents’ families and communities want help regarding global warming fallout and having affordable places to live.

Belaski has lived in Windsor since he was an infant. He served in the House 2017-2018, and is endorsed by the Vermont State Employees Association.

Elizabeth Burrows (D-Brownsville) said her focus is on education and she claims a major role in guiding the new Mt. Ascutney consolidated school district through Act 46. She is chair of the supervisory union’s board. She wants to improve state education funding, including increased higher ed support, according to her website.
