Rutland celebrates its youngest learners

RUTLAND COUNTY— April is the National Association for Education of Young Children designated “Month of the Young Child.” This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Youngest Learners.” The Rutland Region will be celebrating through April 25.

It is also a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy and to shine a spotlight on the home-based providers, child care centers, Head Start Programs, and pre-schools that bring early childhood education to young children. These children and their families depend on high quality education and care which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to their community.

As a means of showcasing such programs, Rutland Building Bright Futures has invited them to display the children’s artwork at Rutland Region businesses and organizations. Currently in Wallingford there is children’s artwork on display at the Town Offices, Gilbert Hart Library, Sal’s Restaurant, and the Thrive Center.

During April 19-25, you will be able to stroll down Merchants Row and Center Streets, in addition to the library and hospital, to see their creative works. Some locations include: Asa Bloomer Building-1st Floor, Citizens Bank, Clems/Coffee Exchange, Frogs & Lilly Pads, GMP Innovation Center, Hawley’s Florist, former Lake Sunapee Bank Location-Merchants Row, Rutland Regional Medical Center-1st Floor, Rutland Free Library, and Wonderfeet Kids Museum.

Building Bright Futures (BBF) is a nonprofit organization and the designated Vermont Early Childhood Advisory Council to the Governor, Administration and Legislature. BBF is the only statewide nonprofit, public-private partnership organization focused solely on improving the well-being of young children and families by improving the system that serves them.
