The landscape at Mission Farm is being reimagined and reshaped with a focus on conservation and sustainability by a team of professionals and volunteers.
Phase one of the landscape master plan begins in early July. It includes an amphitheater that will be available to host community gatherings, concerts and church services formed into the natural curve of the hillside; an expanded green memorial garden behind the chapel; a revitalization of the orchard to offer more accessible space for picnics and contemplation; and a new set of paths developed around an upper meadow focused on native grasses to compliment the system of trails that already exist in this space.
The team working on the landcape includes Jack of Jack Rossi Landscape Architecture; Craig and Mark from Mosher Excavation; Pete from Strategic Vegetation Management; Dan and Elin from Dan Snow Stoneworks LLC; a host of volunteers including Kim French, Scott Baughman, and Mitch Kimble.
Mission Farm has been a space of natural beauty and retreat in the community of Killington for over 125 years. Built on her original homestead, Elizabeth Wood Clement envisioned this space as “a meeting place for social gatherings — both mundane and sacred.”
