STEM summer camp offered at The MINT

Vermont Works for Women and The MINT are partnering to offer two weeks of Rosie’s Girls, a STEM and trades exploration camp for middle-school girls and gender-expansive youth entering grades 6-8, this July and August.

Rosie’s Girls is offered in two different themes: Build and Weld. In addition to technical skills, Rosie’s Girls includes a social and emotional curriculum known as “Power Skills.”

Since 2000, Vermont Works for Women (VWW) has offered Rosie’s Girls summer camp, to encourage girls and gender-expansive youth to explore non-traditional fields for their gender, such as STEM and the skilled trades, in a safe, fun, and empowering environment. Campers gain hands-on experience in fields like construction and welding, use power tools, and learn life skills to support their growth and career journeys.

“VWW is thrilled to continue building our partnership with The MINT and to bring Rosie’s Girls to youth in the Rutland area this summer,” said Caelan Keenan, youth program manager at Vermont Works for Women. “In many ways, Rosie’s Girls is just what youth are looking for today: hands-on projects, opportunities to deepen friendships, and a welcoming place to talk about issues relevant to them and their peers.”

This summer, Rosie’s Girls will be offered for the first time in Rutland at the makerspace, The MINT, the weeks of July 25-29, and Aug. 15-19, from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Rosie’s Girls registration and cost information can be found online at: rosiesgirls.org.
